Kelly Roberson is an accomplished writer, editor, and project manager based in Des Moines, Iowa, with more than 15 years experience on national and regional publications. Her work is characterized by creative and engaging storytelling on a range of subject matter, from organic food to holiday crafts. She has worked for a variety of magazines, newspapers, and books, including Better Homes & Gardens, Kitchen Makeovers, Kitchen and Bath Ideas, Country Gardens, Country Home, figure, At Home with Century 21, Lighting, the Des Moines Register, and Green Clean.

Kelly delivers projects on time, on budget, and indelibly suited to the needs of the audience and mission, on topics ranging from health to crafts, family, food and nutrition, travel, business, insurance, garden, and shelter. Her creative talents and hardworking drive push her to craft well-told stories that are accessible, memorable, and of service to readers. She also possesses the editor’s ability to put together magazines—brand-new or re-launched—from start to finish, including details from image selection and photo planning to content development and page maps.

Kelly grew up in Iowa and attended Drake University, majoring in magazine journalism and political science. She launched her journalism career at Iowa Architect and Texas Architect, and shelter writing remains a particular passion. She was editor of The Iowan, the state’s foremost travel and cultural publication, and Iowa Commerce. She also helped launch Iowa Gardening magazine before taking the plunge as a freelance writer, editor, and project manager specializing in custom communications and magazine journalism.
